Device entering reset mode when starting recording

What happens?

  1. You completely fill the SD card by doing a long recording
  2. The device enters “error” mode (fast blinking light) which indicates that the SD card is full
  3. You remove the SD card, remove the files (move to bin, on MacOS)
  4. You re-insert the SD card, but the device goes straight into “error” mode again!

Why?

  1. On MacOS, “Move to bin” does not actually remove the files from a drive. The space is still reserved.
  2. When the SD card is re-inserted, the device sees the drive as full, and cannot add more files.

How to prevent/ fix the error:

It is important to completely remove files from drives by doing one of the following:

  1. Move the files to bin, then empty the trash or
  2. Use the disk utility tool to reformat the drive (use exFAT format) to completely erase the files
